NOLF
GDC Nominations
In a story that relates to NOLFs nomination of Game of
the Year by The Academy
of Interactive Arts and Sciences, NOLF has been nominated for Original Game
Character of the Year - Cate Archer, Excellence in Level Design, Game Spotlight
Awards and Game of the Year in the Game
Developers Choice Awards. The awards will take place on Friday, March 23rd,
2001 at the Game Developers Conference. Everyone keep their fingers crossed!
Ina side note, yesterdays story about the German review that was posted was an
error. Everyone get rid of the saurkraut and Volkswagons and get out your copy
of "The Sound of Music" 'cause the review came from the birthplace
of the Von Trapps and Wolfgang Amedeus, Austria, and not Germany!!!

NOLF
Takes Home Award
Today it was announced
that No One Lives Forever has taken home the award of "Best/Weirdest
Quote (Or Voice Work) of the Year 2000" from Daily
Radar. Here's a bit of their review and reasoning behind NOLF's nomination:
"Rarely does
an action game's dialog make us laugh. Even rarer is a game that does it
consistently. No One Lives Forever is one of those extremely rare games.
Nowhere is this more apparent than during the time spent listening to the
guards and scientists, including a prolonged discussion of an episode of
the 1960s Batman TV show and the HR benefit programs of the various evil
organizations."

Readers Poll
Well, well...What do we have here? Another Readers Poll is what we have. Over
at Daily Radar, they are conducting the "Awardasaurus
2000!!!" That's right, "Awardasaurus." So,
it appears as though No One Lives Forever is up for a few awards including
Best PC Game of the Year. Here's a bit of what they had to say:
"Its campy fun
and originality put it immediately on the short list of the best games of
the year."
Make sure you get over
there and place another vote for NOLF!!!

NOLF
nominated for best story 2000
PC.ign.com is
currently running a readers poll for the best games of 2000 and No One Lives
Forever is nominated for two awards with remaining categories to come. Right
now, you, the readers of this fine site have a chance to let your voices be
heard. Go over to their polls and vote for NOLF in the categories of Best
Action Game of the Year 2000 as well as Best
Storyline 2000. Here's a bit of what they had to say about the storyline
of this amazing game:
"Excerpt From
Review: Not only does NOLF include an obligatory stint on a space station
orbiting the earth, but also an extremely cool "jump out of a burning
plane and catch the guy with the only parachute" level which fits in
perfectly with the campiness of the game. Because of the quality cinematic
feel of NOLF, you really feel like you're playing the lead role in a spy
thriller. The designers and writers did a great job of using the story to
give you plenty of character background, so you don't feel like you're just
playing a floating hand with a gun attached."

Final
days to vote for NOLF
Pc.ign.com is extending
there Action
Game of the Year 2000 for another day. Here's one of your last chances
to put in a vote for NOLF for Action Game of the Year. We've pulled in
quite a few awards over the past few weeks and this would be a great one
to add to the collection! Here's a taste of what they had to say about
the game:
"Excerpt From
Review: NOLF is a shooter with a brain and a sense of humor...let's just
hope more developers will jump on the bandwagon and give us a shooter experience
like this. It's stylish, it's smart, it's witty, it's campy, and it's a whole
lot of fun. What more could you ask for? As much as I'm going to cringe by
impersonating Austin Powers, "It's groovy, baby! Yeah baby, yeah!" Feel
free punch me in the face now."

Awarded
again
GamePen has released their list of PC Games of the Year and No One Lives
Forever has taken the award for Best
Action Game of the Year 2000! We beat out some good games to take this
top spot so if you want to see who the losers were, click here and
see what couldn't hold up to NOLF. Here's a taste of what was said:
"No One Lives
Forever knows "the camera angles, the incidental music, the dialogue,
and it knows the heart and soul of a period espionage flick was not necessarily
the gadgets and clothes, but the action and intrigue."

NOLF
gets award nod
GameOver.net has named
No One Lives Forever the game with the Best
AI in the Year 2000! What does that mean you ask? Well, out of every game
made in the Year 2000, NOLF's bad-ass enemies were the smartest of the bunch.
Well, well, NOLF gathers another award from the press...Thank you, thank you...Here's
a bit of what they had to say about our fun little game:
"A very commendable
part of the game is the AI. I haven't played against such a "smart" AI
in quite some time. The coolest part, as far as I'm concerned, is when you
attack enemies, and they hide behind furniture, stick just their hand with
the gun out and lay down blind suppressing fire. That is just way too cool."

NOLF
Named "System Shock"
Over at one of my favorite gaming sites, DailyRadar,
they have given No One Lives Forever their "System
Shock Award" for action games. Here's the criteria for their "system
shock award":
"Simply put,
a "System Shock" is the underdog. A wonderful game that didn't
sell as well as it should have or was a total surprise. A game that made
an impact that even we jaded press types didn't see coming. Not necessarily
the best game of the year but perhaps the most promising, just as System
Shock itself was in its day. Examples: Half-Life, Starfleet Command and TIE
Fighter."
Now, they have awarded
NOLF with this award because, as we all know, it basically kicks ass! Here's
the rundown of what they had to say:
"SHOOTER
System Shock: The Operative: No One Lives Forever came as a big surprise
to a lot of people. We never expected a stylish shooter packed with minor
innovation, saddled with an awkward and overlong script but finally delivering
stealth gameplay into the (almost) modern age. Dig it!"
Thank you for the kind
words and believing in the game Daily Radar! We salute you...Boba Fett has
spoken...

NOLF
Wins Another Award
Desslock's
RPG News has awarded NOLF the Action Game of the Year!!! Here's a bit
of what they had tosay about the game:
"Monolith has
produced one of the best first-person shooters, EVER! Extremely varied gameplay
for a game of this genre, No One Lives Forever also provide excellent graphics,
AI and dialogue."

Voodoo
Extreme gives NOLF nod
Voodoo
Extreme named No One Lives Forever the best First
Person Shooter of the Year recently and I thought you should all know!
Everyone's favorite heroine beat out the likes of Deus Ex and Soldier of
Fortune for this top place in their minds. Here's a bit of what they had
to say:
"The solo experience
in No One Lives Forever really excels, with superb writing, movies, music,
levels and best of all...fun gameplay. The missions are shaken, not stirred
- offering a bevy of activities besides simply running around, shooting things.
Scuba diving, skydiving, driving motorcycles and snowmobiles spices up the
game nicely, and the super-sexy sleuth, Cate Archer, is a great leading lady.
Kudos to Monolith for producing
such a top-notch product!"
Well, there you have
it! Another award and we are very pleased to accept it. Thank you to everyone
at Voodoo Extreme for
liking the game.

Game of the Year Awards
No One Lives Forever
has been given the 2000 Game of the Year Award for best story in a game. We
would like to thank GameSpy for
honoring us with this award. Here are a few of the things they had to say:
"Year after
year we cry, "Give us plot! Give us story!" This year, we got it
from Monolith in the form of No One Lives Forever. Dropping you right in
the middle of an intriguing 60's spy flick, NOLF uses a healthy number of
in-game cut-scenes to advance the story and keep the player interested as
the story unfolds. Add a dash of James Bond gadgetry along with a twist of
Austin Powers humor and you've got one of the most enjoyable stories in a
computer game this year."

Readers Choice Awards
Boba Fett has chosen
all of you and anyone else you know, are acquainted with or have given the
head nod to in a public place. Here's everyone's chance to prove the GameSpot critics
wrong in their Game of the Year choice. No One Lives Forever is nominated again
in a number of categories including Game of the Year. Here's where your voice
can and will be heard. Check out the readers
oll on GameSpot.com and
cast a vote for NOLF.
We
are the Action Game of the Year!!!
GameSpot has
given us the distinct award as Action GAME
OF THE YEAR! We were nominated for many awards including Best
Music, Best
Sound and Game
of the Year but harnessed only one award, which we are very pleased with!
Boba Fett is happy as well as all of you should be since we already knew that
No One Lives Forever was the best Action Game of the Year. Here's a bit of
what they had to say about NOLF:
"Just when it
seemed as though 2000 would come and go without any significant action game,
Monolith released The Operative: No One Lives Forever, a game that's considered
an equal to Half-Life in many respects and superior in others. No One Lives
Forever has elements of stealth like Thief: The Dark Project, scripting like
Half-Life, the high-tech gadgetry of GoldenEye 007, and the massive levels
of Unreal. Ultimately, No One Lives Forever delivers the most satisfying
single-player experience of any action game this year."
Not too bad if ya ask
me! Go to GameSpot and
check out what other games were nominated and see what beat out NOLF in the
other categories.

Awarded
1st Place Again!!!
VoodooExtreme has
named No One Lives Forever THE best first person shooter of the year beating
out the likes of something...and some other game (like I'm gonna name the competition
on this site!). Thank you to VoodooExtreme for
the nice words they had to say about a game we all knew was great already!
Here's a bit of what they had to say:
Monolith has
delivered a Triple-A caliber, incredibly captivating first-person shooter.
The solo experience in No One Lives Forever really excels, with superb writing,
movies, music, levels and best of all...fun gameplay. The missions are shaken,
not stirred - offering a bevy of activities besides simply running around,
shooting things. Scuba diving, skydiving, driving motorcycles and snowmobiles
spices up the game nicely, and the super-sexy sleuth, Cate Archer, is a great
leading lady. Kudos to Monolith for
producing such a top-notch product!

NOLF
is one of the best...and VOTE!!!
GameSpot has
announced their top ten list of The
Best Voice Acting in Games and our favorite game, No One Lives Forever,
has been awarded a spot on the list! There are a lot of other great games that
have been awarded a place on the list but we are especially proud because of
the caliber of games and the amount of time they have been out. We would like
to thank GameSpot for
thinking of us as well as for these nice words they had to say:
"Monolith's No
One Lives Forever was not only one of this year's best first-person shooter
games, it was also one of the most innovative action games we've seen in
a long time. The quality of the game's voice acting can be heard without
opening your eyes, yes, but to see the 3D character models mouth every word
of spoken dialogue perfectly adds another layer of believability to what's
an already immersive experience."
Now here's where all
of our loyal readers come in. GameSpot is
also running a poll for
their readers to vote on what game they think has the best voice acting and
once again, NOLF is nominated for that. Please jump on over
there and vote for NOLF. You and I know it's the right thing to do. For
the sake of humanity, vote for NOLF!

NOLF
#1
No One Lives Forever has been awarded first place in the Sharky's
Shooter Shootout 2000 poll! Of all the Action games released this year,
they like NOLF, they really, really like NOLF! Here's a quote on our number
one game directly from the voters:
"Who'd have
thought it. Monolith surprised
us all with what is undeniably the best first person shooter of 2000. It
has humour by the bucket load, style by the truck load and a sexy female
lead (none other than Cate Archer of course) with more guns to choose from
than your average rebel militia and funky gadgets that'd make Bond green
with envy. It's also a decent length (something that's becoming shamefully
rare in first person shooters these days) and so wonderfully varied both
in the gameplay and visuals department that you'll never get bored. Kudos
to Monolith for taking
the time and effort to make this one great, I haven't enjoyed a game so much
in a long while."
Now the question is
whether NOLF is going to sweep the field and take Game of the Year from Sharky.com?
We'll have to wait and see according to the site:
"For two years
running now we've given our Game Of The Year Award to the game that came
first in the first person shootout. However, this year things may well be
a little bit different, and with so many quality titles in other genres it's
not dead certain that No One Lives Forever will pick up this coveted Sharky
Award. So when will you know what clinched it? When we pop up our Sharky
Games Awards 2000 of course! Stay tuned..."
