20 Top Players Share Their NOLF Knowledge - Page 4

Why did you join a clan? And for those of you who have belonged to more
than one clan, why did you switch?
Most people are very loyal to their clans and have only switched because a
previous clan became defunct.
“ I find it a lot of fun to go into a server and be surrounded by people
from my clan...Its also nice to have people willing to teach you what they
know about the game...being in a clan can make you a lot better player. “
“ I joined a clan to represent a team, a bond, a togetherness (if u will)!
I am proud to be a |PM|er and always try to show my colors! For the longest
time I never thought I would join a clan, and I think pretty much everyone
else was surprised at first too, but I did and I am really glad I did! Sometimes
I think that I am getting way too into NOLF, because I joined a clan, but
then I think that the clan thing is sort of like a team in it's own way,
a good way. “
" I joined BoS because then you have more friends and you have some
advice from other players. “
“ Well, I never joined a clan. I started my own. My friend
menace and I felt that we wanted to meet and form a group of nolfers who
were nice people and good players. So we formed NbK. Once some
really nice people joined (namely my best nolf bud Pjkorn) joined, we started
to take off. Then people like SeeD (another really cool guy) and loki
(our first excellent player to join) joined and there was no way I could
ever quit playing the game. “
“ I joined a clan for the competition and the learning experience to better
myself in the game. Your enemy will rarely give you tips on how to become
better. Although I did switch recently because my former clan has temporally
retired due to personal reasons. The choice of my new clan is because I still
wanted to continue the competition, and they are a great group of guys to
learn from. “
“ I really didn’t want to when it came about! {NbK}_juice_ asked me to join
and he was really nice and showed me some things I did not know, they were
a new clan back then and only had 3 members total, so I guess I wanted to
be part of something that I could help build! “
“ It gives you the chance to play against clans instead of just playing
against individual players. You join a community where you make friends Not
the most important but you are sometimes more respected when you’re in a
clan (shouldn’t be like that though) I have been in other clans but I left
them because there were no activities and lots of members I never saw them.
It was more wearing a tag and that was all. BoS is my first clan where I
feel at home. Thx guys ;-) “
“At first I joined a clan because I thought they were the best so
I wanted to join the best. Later on I realized that it wasn’t it. It was
just fun. You couldn’t believe how sick and excited I was at the same time
when I played my first match. It was thrilling. At first I belonged to UCA,
but they didn’t do s*** so I left for BoS. “
“ I joined a clan because I like having a team behind me and I like team
playing. I like belonging to a group of people who consist of my Internet
gaming “friends.” I left other clans because they died. “
“ I am in a clan to compete, all non-clan matches are just friendly games
for me. My adrenaline really gets flowing during a hard fought clan match. “
“ Just to make them stop asking me. “
What would you like to see change, if anything, in NOLF 2 multiplayer?
There is always room for improvement, even with something you really love. The
bottom line, fix the darn netcode and give us more skins.
“ More skins...cool maps, and keep Hydro cos we all love it :) and
obviously more varied play types such as capture the flag, defend the base,
and team dm. “
“ I want team death match and way more maps to enjoy! Sometimes I just get
sick of the same old maps. “
“ Easily the net code. If they keep the game the same and eliminate
a lot of the lag (like in wolfenstein), I will be thoroughly pleased with
it. “
“ The netcode of course. Make it possible to check FPS! Maybe make the proxy
grenade timed to ease up the lag. Make the corrector effectiveness according
to the distance of the target. (Just too powerful) Have fox support the game
more by following up with updates and don’t forget about us. “
“ More skins, weapons, maps, and a new netcode. “
“The netcode! That and have more skins for the player models! “
“ Better netcode, more control to the server, more modes (i.e. team dm,
regular dm, am, and possibly capture the flag, or other junk like that. Perhaps
a more team based mode; as NOLF tends to be more player oriented rather than
team oriented) “
“ Different sorts of AM-types instead of just taking a pic. I refer here
to for example to RtCW or MOHAA. “
“ I would love to play new maps in Nolf 2, and I hope they can fix the lag
problem, and maybe new skins and stuff. “
“ I want a co-op, team death match and capture the flag mode added. Plus
less lag. “
“ Choice of Weapons for the Host (NO ROCKETS ON MY SERVER). Better Netcode =
less lag and lower pings. More Maps. No Bunny Hopping. A cheat that turns
weapon sway off and that only I know ;) “
“No rockets or mines! I don’t think it takes much skill to wield
those weapons, and you can really rape a base with those things. Kind
of cheap. That’s why you rarely see me with a rocket unless driven
by dire need or if I’m in a pissy mood. “
“ I would like to see a spectator mode, and also a large pool of new faces. “
“ Nothing, just more maps. “
What type of controls do you use to play NOLF? A game pad, joystick
or the keyboard and mouse? If you want to recommend a specific set-up,
please do so.
Good news! You don’t need fancy gaming equipment to become a great NOLFer. Every
one of the 20 interview subjects uses the standard keyboard and mouse controls. They
seem to be evenly split as to whether a regular or optical mouse is better.
Finally, I would like you to share, without giving away any of your trade
secrets, any hints and tips about strategies and tactics that would be helpful
to a new player.
Listen up! Here are some great tips for improving your game.
“ When defending the case there are usually certain routes the enemy has
to take to get to the case, a doorway, a ramp. Make sure you are defending
these, learn the maps, and know all routes to the case. Being prepared is
the most important part of defending. “
“ Learn all of the weapons and how and when they are most effective! Like,
for instance the corrector (my fav weapon) is just as explosive when you
aim at the feet, as it is when you aim for the head! Also, the grenade launcher
is a tough one to get used to! Learn distance and timing when using this
weapon! And especially true for the brief! Lord knows I always commit
suicide with that one! “
“ If I were to give specifics it would probably take me pages upon pages
to even begin to explain them. That’s why I love this game. There
are so many minor things that can make you a better player. The best
way to find them out is to play a lot! That’s how I did and I’m still
learning. “
“ Proper placement of mines can keep you opponents at bay! “
“ The corrector is the best weapon. Learn to use it. “
" Always try to take as many weapons as possible with you, so you
don’t run out of ammo in the middle of a shooting. Try to figure out what
weapon is best suited for close combat, medium range, etc. Master sniping
(still doing that myself). My favorite all-round weapon is the AK+ Scope
+ phosphorus bullets. This combination does a lot of damage! Always have
one to back you up. Don’t rush without thinking. You’ll commit suicide. Try
different sorts of approaches to the bases. “
“ If your new, don’t you dare get on a tower in Hydro. An experienced player
will wipe you clean off of it, sometime before the zip line is finished unhooking.
Oh yeah, that reminds me. Don’t wait until the zip line is finished pulling
you to the end. Press a weapon key to get off it and be ready. “
“ The single most important thing: Work together with others, teamwork is
key. A coordinated attack of 3 players is so much more powerful than 3 single
attacks. If your team needs D, stay back until another replaces you. “
“ It helps to really KNOW a map when you play. I used to stink at
Marrakech and some others until I learned them well. Now I can hold
my own on those maps, and I know where I am going, which really helps!!!. Remember
to hop around to avoid being killed! Spend more time shooting, less
time flapping your figurative gums (chatting). Keep snacks beside your
computer and use the bathroom before playing, and keep your mouse clean! Don’t
join the winning team when you are on the losing team already—it’s good to
play against people better than you to get better yourself. “
Well folks that’s it, and speaking from my experience, you won’t find a better
way to understand what it takes to join the ranks of the top NOLF players than
to take to heart these gamer’s words, because they’ve said it all. G2G,
Cya. Vlad
